报告简介:
Macrocyclic compounds play a major role in supramolecular chemistry. In 2008, Dr. Ogoshi and coworkers reported a new class of macrocyclic hosts named "pillar[n]arenes" (Figure 1). Pillar[n]arenes have repeating units connected by methylene bridges at the para-position, and thus they have a unique symmetrical pillar architecture differing from the basket-shaped structure of meta-bridged calix[n]arenes. Pillar[n]arenes are obtained in high yields by one-step reaction, and show versatile functionality. Pillar[n]arenes can capture not only electron accepting guests but also neutral guests. In this lecture, based on the structure and functionality of pillar[n]arenes, liquid state pillar[5]arene and one and two dimensional supramolecular assemblies constructed from pillar[n]arenes are reported.
