摘要:We consider actions of finite groups on free algebraic structures in order to concentrate in the study of the invariants, i.e. the elements which remain fixed under the action (one can consider that the invariants are an analogous of symmetry axes). Studying invariants goes back to D. Hilbert and E. Noether; in case of polynomial algebras the Theorem of  Shephard-Todd (1954) says precisely when the invariants are again a polynomial algebra. Then we will analyse the non-commutative situation, invariants in tensor algebras and/or in path algebras of a quiver (that is an oriented graph) under the action of a finite group. We will also mention that the representation type, after taking invariants, is conserved or decreases, using the Theorem of P. Gabriel (1972) related to Dynkin or extended Dynkin graphs.
This talk will be based in a paper with E. Marcos, "Invariants of a Free Linear Category and Representation Type, to appear in J. of Pure and Appl. Algebra and available on arXiv.
